For me, Valentine’s Day is so much more than romance and candlelit dinners. Maybe it’s because of my kids, but I love making it a celebration for the whole family—my husband, my children, and even a special night with my girlfriends. Whether you prefer a cozy night in or a fabulous outing, here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in the South Bay, from Hermosa Beach to Palos Verdes.
My girls absolutely love pajamas, so festive Valentine’s-themed PJs are always a hit. Posh Peanut and Little Sleepies are my go-to brands—their sets are incredibly soft and designed to grow with your little ones.
For a fun, hands-on activity, I adore sensory bins from Young Wild Friedman. Their non-toxic dough and themed goodies keep kids entertained for hours, making it a perfect Valentine’s treat.
And, of course, nothing says love like sweets! SusieCakes in Manhattan Beach offers adorable heart-shaped cookie decorating kits that the whole family can enjoy together.
If you’re like me and love staying in on Valentine’s Day, consider putting together a gourmet meal at home. One of my favorite spots to grab fresh seafood is Fish & Olive. Their selection of fresh fish and mussels is always top-notch, perfect for a romantic dinner or an intimate gathering with friends.
Pair your meal with a fabulous bottle of wine from Manhattan Fine Wines or MB Wine Co. while you’re out picking up your cookie kit from SusieCakes.
For a perfect spread of charcuterie and cheese, make a small journey to The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills. Their expert knowledge and gourmet selection make the trip well worth it. And if you’re a champagne lover, a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Rosé is simply unmatched!
For those who prefer a night out, there are plenty of fantastic Valentine’s events happening around the South Bay. Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes is always a highlight, offering romantic dining experiences and spa packages with breathtaking ocean views.
When it comes to cozy, romantic dinner spots, here are my top South Bay picks:
Slay Steak + Fish House – A sophisticated yet inviting spot with delicious steaks and fresh seafood.
Fishing With Dynamite – A charming oyster bar perfect for seafood lovers.
Fête – A trendy yet intimate spot with an incredible menu and craft cocktails.
La Sosta Enoteca – A hidden gem serving authentic Italian cuisine in an unassuming setting. Be prepared for a leisurely, traditional Italian dinner—and don’t forget to ask for the cheese plate; it’s not on the menu!
Whatever you do this Valentine’s Day, take the time to celebrate love—whether that’s with your family, friends, significant other, or even a little self-care. Enjoy the moment, indulge in something special, and most importantly, cherish the people around you (including yourself!).
